It is most likely the same as the 1990 VW fox. On the 1990 crawl underneath the car in front of the back passenger tire. You will see a bracket bolted underneath there. On that bracket it has three parts: the fuel pump, fuel filter and another smaller filter of some sort.
Under car, passenger side rear on a bracket near the fuel pump and fuel tank.
