Not sure about a 1992, but a 1993 G20 fuel pump is definitely in the tank. It's an electric, turbine-type in tank design. My understanding is the 1991-1994 are all the same.

if you put in a new fuel pump and the fuse still blows check the fuel relay under the hood on the firewall,,its oval in shape,,,, disconect the relay and turn the engine over if the fuse doesnt blow then the relay is bad,,if it does then you have a short in the wire harness its easy to follow from the fuel pump to the relay good luck
