They are located below the black plastic where you see the "ECOtec" logo on the engine top. You have to remove screws and pull out the ignition coils to see the spark plugs. By the way GM's 2.2 Ecotec use direct ignition, so there's no spark plugs wires.

GM Ecotec family engines have timing CHAINS, not belts.
The quad 4 is the predecessor to the GM Ecotec which replaced it and is GM's global 4-cylinder and is used in all GM lines, Saturn, Opel,Fiat, Alfa Romeo, and Daewoo.
