the iat is inside the air intake duct between the housing and the throttle body
ANSWER
www. motorcraft. com (no spaces) shows thread in type IAT sensors for the 1993 Rangers , so the sensor is threaded into the upper area of the intake manifold . I know on the 4.0 L OHV engine it is on the drivers side
On my 1993 Ranger XLT 3.0L the IAT sensor is in the air cleaner chamber just below the air filter. It comes out by turning it 1/4 turn CCW. Resistance values of mine are: 85K @ 0 degrees F 33K @72 degrees F http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/details/QQFordQQRangerQQMotorcraftQQIAT_SensorQQ19921994QQMIDY670.html
2002 models dont have an iat sensor
From Haynes Repair Manual for Ford Ranger Pickups 1993 - 2005: "All 2.5 engines, 3.0L and 4.0L 1993 through 1999 and 2.3L engines 1993 through 1997 utilize an IAT sensor. Models following these years do not have an IAT sensor". Hope this answers your question. Good luck. ANSWER www.motorcraft.com shows an air charge temperature sensor for the 4.0 L SOHC ( only ) , on the 2003 Ranger . I'm assuming it is in the big rubber air intake tube. P.S. I also noticed that there is a manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor listed for the 2.3 L engine in a 2003 Ford Ranger
According to www . motorcraft . com ( no spaces ) the IAT sensor is a thread in type for the engines in a 1994 Ford Ranger - so threaded into the upper area of the intake manifold somewhere
It's located with the MAF
From Haynes Repair Manual #36071: All Ranger 2.5L engines, 3.0L and 4.0L 1993 through 1999 and 2.3L engines 1993 through 1997 utilize an IAT sensor. Models following those years do not have an IAT sensor. If your Ranger falls in the category of having an IAT sensor, the sensor is located inside the air intake duct between the air cleaner housing and the throttle body. (the sensor electrical connector is likely visible from outside the air intake duct and the sensor fits into the duct and is removable from outside the air intake duct.)
From Haynes Manual #36071, 1993/2005 Ford Ranger and 1994-2005 Mazda B-Series Pick-ups: All 2.5L engines, 3.0L and 4.0L 1993 through 1999 and 2.3L engines 1993 through 1997 utilize an IAT sensor. Models following these years do not have an IAR sensor.
93 thru 99 3.0 motors have IAT but later models do not
It's a thread in style IAT sensor , so it has to be threaded into the upper intake manifold somewhere
From Haynes Repair Manual #36071, 1993-2005 Ford Ranger Pick-ups: All 2.5L engines, 3.0L and 4.0L 1993 thru 1999 and 2.3L engines 1993 through 1997 utilize an IAT sensor. If your vehicle is equipped with an AIT sensor, the sensor is located inside the air intake duct between the air cleaner housing and the throttle body.
The IAT sensor is an integral part of the MAF sensor
The IAT sensor is installed in the intake air duct
Green/White and Violet/Grey Wires on the intake air duck MAF sensor.
