The master cylinder is under the driver-side interior fresh air filter assembly. Remove the cover & filter. Remove the wire clip on the stud in front of the assembly. Detach the air tunnel. Lift the front of the assembly straight up allowing the back to release. The master cylinder is now visible.

On a BMW 530i, the brake fluid reservoir is typically located near the back of the engine bay, on the driver's side, close to the windshield. It is usually a translucent plastic container with a cap labeled for brake fluid. To check the fluid level, ensure the car is on a level surface and the engine is off, then inspect the markings on the side of the reservoir.

brake fluid reservoir has a, "fill to line". If hard to see it can be filled to jjust below base of filler neck, ( it will be slightly over filled) but not a problem. If you add too much, it can over flow when you cap/level sensor on. Brake fluid will damage the paint if it isn't cleaned up.
It is located in the glove box. Turn the two white fasteners. It is located in slot 7. 30a/32v.
The power steering fluid in E39 BMW's are located by the front of the car. It is marked ATF on the cap. Good Luck.

There is a sensor that is triggered when your brakes pads get too thin which sets off an warning message through the BMW warning system displayed on your dashboard.
Change the brake pads sensors. You must change them after every brake pad swap.
