Tighten the nuts securely. 5) Plug in the electrical connector. These instructions come from the Haynes repair manual for Honda Accord 1990-1993 which also has good illustrations.

To replace or clean the EGR valve on a 1997 Honda Civic, first disconnect the negative battery terminal and remove any components obstructing access to the valve. For cleaning, detach the EGR valve from the intake manifold and use an appropriate cleaner to remove carbon deposits. If replacing, install the new valve with a new gasket, reconnect all hoses and electrical connections, and reattach any components you removed. Finally, reconnect the battery and start the engine to ensure proper operation.
