The 2006 fuel filter on the Jetta diesel is located in the engine bay passenger side at the front. It is a silver canister with 4 rubber lines coming into it. Five or six screws hold on the top of the canister and the top can be tied back until the filter is replaced. I did not take the lines off. The replacement filter couldn't be found at my local auto stores and 3 different ones are made for 2006 jetta diesel and is VIN # specific. The filter cost 39.00 at the volkswagon dealership. The filter slides over a 1" collar and was very hard to remove. I had to destroy the old one to get it out. The new one slides back on is also very tight. Hope this helps.

On a 2006 Ford F-350 with a 6.0L diesel engine, the fuel filter is located on the driver's side of the engine compartment, near the front, just below the air intake. It's housed within a filter assembly that can be accessed easily for replacement. Make sure to relieve fuel system pressure before attempting to change the filter.
Check the bottom of the filter housing. Newer units have no water drain. Water must be removed by removing the filter from the housing and using a suction bulb to suck out the water. Throw the filter away as wet filters can ruin the injector pump.
the primary filter is on the driver side frame rail even with the transmission. the secondary filter is located top front of engine. it is the smaller cap.
The oil filter is on the front of engine to the right of oil dipstick, its dome shaped with a big nut head on it (black)
Where is the fuel filter located on a 2006 Subaru Legacy
It is a spin on type filter that is located on the passenger side of the engine. It is viewable from the top and has a priming pump on top of the filter base with a bleeder screw. Be careful when removing it because it has an electrical plug-in on the bottom of the filter for fuel-water separator.
