its on the throttle body just above the throttle position sensor (t.p.s)
Could be the Throttle Positioning Sensor or the Idle Air Control Valve
Is this a 3.1 liter engine? tipicaly by the throttle body area. idle sensor or idle air controll valve?

i have a 90 lumina 3.1 i was told you cant adjust the idle, but i fyoure hvaing idle problems like i was try replacing the idle air control motor. Try cleaning it and the throttle plate. Go to bgfindashop.com and find a local repair shop that uses BG Products. The air induction cleaning will normally take care of those problems.

The idle speed is read by the Engine Control Module(computer) and adjusted as necessary by use of the idle air control in conjunction with the throttle position sensor. There is no separate idle sensor as such.
