Jack the car up, then lay on your back with your head under the front passenger side, look up at the plastic cover then up to the oil pan and block and " viola" there it is! If this is the first oil change remember Toyota uses black filters so look extra hard, Its real small.

AnswerPut your car up on some ramps. Laying down under the car look up just past the radiator on the passenger side. The filter is vertical not horizontal. Remember stock Toyota filters are black in color making them harder to see. Bring a light the first time to help locate. You will need a socket and extension with a oil filter socket to grab the filter. (Assuming it can't be removed by hand.) Location is the same on all 4 cylinders of this body style. I own a 2005 SE, mother-in-law's is a 2002 LE also with the 4 cyl. I do all the maintenance on both machines. Hope this helps

Addition

I happened to be changing the oil on my Camry and noticed this question. I had trouble finding the filter on the first change too. I've corrected the spelling and typos in the two answers above and added links to some pictures I took while changing the oil and filter. The answers above cover it pretty well.

Thank you

Glad to hear that others have had the same problem finding to oil filter on a 4 cyl. for the first time change. Robert
