The G8 has a V6 engine and the G8 GT has a V8 engine
I came to Wiki looking for the answer. Couldn't find it, and after just completing my first oil change at 8400 mi per the monitoring system, I can now provide the answer: The oil filter on the Pontiac G8 (V6) is a cartridge type filter (just the guts). It's on top of the engine on the drivers side, underneath the black plastic engine cover, right by the oil filler opening. To remove the cover, pull up on the sides (there are two hidden clips that will release). There is one additional place to release the cover at the front of the engine, just pull it up. The cap for the oil filter housing is by the oil filler cap. A 15/16" socket made it easy, as it is a tight fit and not a lot of room to turn a wrench. Reset the oil life monitoring system by turning the key to ON and pressing the accelerator to the floor and releasing 3 times within 5 seconds.
The G8 has 365hp and the Challenger R/T has 375hp but the Challenger weighs a little more than the G8 so it would be a tight race. But if it was the 425hp Challenger SRT8, it would kill the G8
