I OWN A 1998 MALIBU 6CYL AUTO TRANSMISION. THE TRASMISION FILL AND CHECK CAP IS LOCATED ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ENGINE BELOW THE ENGINE EXHAST MANIFOLD. IF YOU REMOVE THE AIR FILTER TOP HOUSEING IT WILL BE A LITTLE EASIER. MY CAR HAS 140K AND I DON'T BELIVE ANY OF THE OIL CHANGE PLACES AND THE DEALER CHECKED IT.I PUT 3.5 QTS IN THE TRANSMISIOM. I ADDED FLUID TILL IT WAS VISIBLE IN THE HOLE.NOT AT ALL EASY. The 2000 and several other years of this vehicle have no transmission dipstick because they use a sealed transmission. The actual process for checking the trans fluid is elusive as I have been searching for days. The popular answer is that you need the vehicle engine and transmission at operating temperature, on a level surface, and then you pull a small plug (location in dispute) near the right axel shaft and watch for a small amount of fluid to run out. If none does, then it is low. Best I can come up with so far.
The transmission fluid does not come out of the transmission dip stick. The transmission fluid is added through the dip stick area though. The exact specification on how to change transmission fluid will depend upon the exact vehicles and the owner's manual should be reviewed.
I have a 1999 Potiac Grand Am SE, and I cannot find the transmission dip stick to check the transmission fluid.
It is safe to operate your vehicle without a dip stick in the transmission. The dip stick is mainly used to test the level of fluid in the transmission.
Dip stick
IN THE DIP STICK TUBE.....
There is a dip stick next to the battery. Don't mix it up with oil dip stick. Remove the dip stick and add fluid through the dip stick opening.
make sure car is on level ground...open hood...pull transmission dip stick...check transmission fluid level...if low, fill to cold fluid level on dip stick.....start the motor..let the car warm up....check fluid level again....fill to hot level on transmission dip stick....use manufacturer's recommended transmission fluid........usually instructions are on dip stick... make sure car is on level ground...open hood...pull transmission dip stick...check transmission fluid level...if low, fill to cold fluid level on dip stick.....start the motor..let the car warm up....check fluid level again....fill to hot level on transmission dip stick....use manufacturer's recommended transmission fluid........usually instructions are on dip stick...
Thur the dip stick..... Thur the dip stick.....
pull out the transmission dip stick like your going to check the fluid level and just above the full mark on the dip stick it should be written on the dip stick!
I have a 1994 Honda accord and I checked my transmission fluid & it had bubbles on my dip Stick. What does dat mean??
no dip stick. sealed transmission
I believe that is Motorcraft MERCON automatic transmission fluid , pull your transmission dip stick out and confirm with printing on dip stick
