The simple thing to check is clutch adjustment. Does your clutch pedal go almost to the floor before you feel tension? If so, then a clutch adjustment(Cable style) should cure the problem. A good mechanic should be able to attach an extension block to your clutch pedal. Also have the clutch adjustment checked because you shouldn't need to push it all the way to the floor to shift your vehicle.

There is no adjustment on your hydraulic clutch. Try pumping (quick stabs on the pedal with your foot) the clutch a few times and then push your clutch all the way in. If the clutch works better after pumping it, your slave cylinder is leaking and needs to be replaced. If there is no difference, you may need to bleed your hydraulic lines - if you have air in there, the air will compress unlike hydraulic fluid and your slave cylinder won't have the full range of motion.

The clutch release ("throw-out") bearing has gone bad...Use a new clutch disc when you replace the clutch release bearing...or it could be the clutch master cylinder. Check the master cylinder first...Look for any sign of leakage from either component .

Because you have to have the clutch depressed to start it. They came factory with a clutch safety switch that will not allow the engine to start unless the clutch pedal is pressed to the floor . NOT. the clutch safety switch only allows the starter to be energized... If the glow plugs will cycle then the truck can be pulled to start. When my starter solenoid was bad I pulled it to start.
