Usually one of three reasons. Starter is staying energized from starter switch or starter solenoid is bad internally or bendix gear on the end of the starter is not retracting. Tests: "bump" the starter with a momentary pulse of the key. If it continues to crank after releasing the key it's electrical. If not then probably gear is stuck or damaged. Check gear at flywheel. Should slide in and out of engagement freely. If problem is electrical then locate starter engagement wire at solenoid. And when motor starts check for battery voltage at that wire when disconnected. If it has voltage then suspect switch. If not then check for voltage at solenoid terminal. If voltage then replace solenoid or starter if integral.
sound like to me the starter solenoid is stuck the reason it does it in park is the neutral safety switch replace it and it should be fine
Yes. The alternator is used to keep the battery charged, while using the headlights, radio, a/c, etc. The starter to me is misstated because it actually cranks the engine. The ignition system starts it, and keeps it running.
Solenoid the starter is stuck would be my suspicion.
There are probably severable possible reasons, but I can only think of a few at the moment. Some of the reasons include: 1. Misalignment of the starter when installed, which allows the teeth on the starter gear to bind with the the teeth on the flywheel, thus preventing disengagement after the engine starts. 2. A defective starter solenoid, which remains [stuck] in the start/engaged postion. 3. A defective ignition/starter switch in which the circuit providing current to the starter solenoid winding coil does not "open" as it should when the key is released and thus be allowed to return to the "run" position.j3h.
The starter solenoid is not disengaging once engine is started. Rebuild starter or replace with a new starter.
Yes, you can count on it.
No. The engine starts the car.
I have had my starter solenoid short out and go bad and keep on trying to start the engine even after I turned the key off. I had to disconnect the battery to stop it and buy a new starter solenoid and install it !
yes, a rocket does have a engine. the engine is the horse power to a rocket that gets it to go... and keep going... and keep going. as long as it has a good engine then it would be a pretty long ride in to space.
If it blows every time you try to crank the engine over, the starter may have failed. If it blows every time you try to crank the engine over, the starter may have failed.
It is on a very high point on the Pirate Outpost area. Just keep going up and you will find it. Remember, keep going up.
Yes, it will. Remove the starter and have it tested at you local auto parts store. But make sure the battery is not the culprit.
