Why does your check engine light come on for a small amount of time and then go off for a couple of weeks then come back on again for a short while on a 2001 Isuzu rodeo 4-cylinder?

i'll go to AutoZone to get free pcm code and then post that code in this forum. i'd some what similar problem.it was EGR valve,pretty sure....anyway get pcm code when CEL come on and let us know.
