It is normal for a GMC Sierra to idle fast when it is first started. It will idle at around 1500 rpm until the engine warms up. To get it to slow the rpm's sooner, a person can tap the throttle once and it should slow down.
If you have average mileage on it, you should go get it checked. That is too low for an idle. The vibration is probly from the low idle.
It should be 900 RPM's.
you can't
The idle speed depends on the year model. The GTs from 1993 to 1995 should have idles speed between 650 and 800rpm. I believe the 1996 and 1997 models had a slightly different idle speed, but either way 1500 sounds too much. You can adjust idle speed on your car of course.
Idle speed will vary from 600-1000 rpm.Idle speed will vary from 600-1000 rpm.
To adjust the idle on a 1992 GMC Sierra with a 5.7L engine, locate the idle adjustment screw on the throttle body. Start the engine and let it warm up to normal operating temperature. Use a screwdriver to turn the idle adjustment screw clockwise to increase the idle speed or counterclockwise to decrease it, aiming for the manufacturer's specified RPM. Always ensure the vehicle is in park or neutral and that all accessories are off during this adjustment.
