Usually that's the first sign of a transmission going bad.Overdrive sometimes goes out first. Also it could be a bad transmission sensor.A diagnostic check should tell you so.The sensors are cheap and easy to install. To adjust the shift linkage and passing gear linkage on a 1994 Bronco, first, ensure the vehicle is in park and the ignition is off. Locate the adjustment points on the shift linkage and the passing gear linkage, typically found near the transmission. Loosen the adjustment nuts, then shift the transmission through its gears to identify the correct position. Once aligned, tighten the nuts to secure the adjustment and test the operation to ensure smooth shifting.
If your 1995 Plymouth Acclaim won't shift into passing gear, it could be due to several factors, such as a malfunctioning throttle position sensor, low transmission fluid levels, or issues with the transmission itself. A clogged filter or a failing transmission solenoid could also prevent it from engaging properly. Additionally, problems with the engine or vacuum lines might affect performance. It's advisable to have the vehicle checked by a qualified mechanic for a thorough diagnosis.

Say what?! Pass gear?? Who pass gear anymore?
if by "passing gear" you mean, when you put your foot down to pass, the transmission goes down a gear, then it is not actually slipping. it just means it is trying to go back into top gear. sounds like you need to back off a little and learn how your car operates correctly by passing gear, do you mean the transmission goes back a gear when you put your foot flat to the floor? if so your transmission is not slipping, but trying to go into correct gear for the speed you are travelling.try not flooring it and let the transmission do its job. PS: "D" on shift slector does NOT mean DRAG race. it means drive

The car isn't necessarily shifting into neutral its just staying in a lower gear and not shifting to the next gear, check your transmission fluid.
