I had this same problem when i bought my cavalier. I had the ignition lock\key part changed and I changed the ignition switch myself and it worked fine. Now I have yet another problem.
go buy some fuel. if it doesnt start check fuel pump.
ignition barrel needs changing this is a common fault
did the parking brake get set, or the shoes adjusted too tight?
I would highly recommend calling you dealership. :)
Most often it is the starter and not the ignition.

Depends on where you bought the gun. If from a store they should have the info. It might even be on your receipt. If you bought at pawn shop they usually include that info on the receipt. If you bought from individual and your state doesnt require registration you're out of luck.
Take the item back to the shop were you bought it and ask how to use it properly
