If your 2001 Chevy Silverado is still overheating after replacing the thermostat and water pump, check for other potential issues such as a clogged radiator, low coolant levels, or a malfunctioning radiator fan. Inspect the coolant for contamination, which could indicate a blown head gasket. Additionally, ensure that there are no leaks in the cooling system and that the radiator is functioning properly. If these checks do not resolve the issue, consider consulting a professional mechanic for further diagnosis.
Does that mean that you replaced the thermostat AND the sensor? If not, you really need to replace the thermostat. A sticking thermostat can cause temperature swings and potentially overheat the engine. BTW, BMW engines tend to have serious problems when they overheat. Don't let it overheat or you might be buying a new engine.
Definitely
The thermostat is located on the top of the radiator in the engine. It is on the upper hose intake of the engine.
You may have the thermostat in backwards. The spring side of the thermostat faces into the engine.

Assuming a V8 engine, it's on the top, front of the engine. The thermostat housing is where the top radiator hose goes into the engine.
The thermostat is located on the engine of a 6.0 vortex 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The thermostat can be found by following the upper radiator hose directly to the thermostat.

generally if an engine overheats, but then does not overheat when heater is turned on, is a good indication that the engine thermostat is stuck and needs replacing
The engine will overheat violently, serious damage can occur if you continue to run the engine.
