Its probably the float in the gas tank that tells how much fuel is left in the tank... its sticking.
When it says empty, you'd better believe it is.
To fix a fuel gauge on a 1991 Dodge Dynasty, first check the fuse related to the gauge to ensure it's not blown. If the fuse is intact, inspect the fuel sending unit located in the fuel tank, as it may be faulty or have a bad connection. Additionally, check the wiring and connectors for any corrosion or damage. If all else fails, consider replacing the fuel gauge itself.
i have sort of the same problem on my dodge 2000 the temperature gauge recently went out and i replaced the sensor but the gauge always reads 0 your not alone with this one...
Yes. The fuel gauge in most vehicles will settle at 'empty' with the ignition off.
If the fuel gauge on a 1992 Dodge Dynasty is not working, it may indicate a faulty fuel sender unit, which is responsible for measuring the fuel level and sending that information to the gauge. Additionally, there could be issues with the wiring or connections between the sender and the gauge, or the gauge itself may be malfunctioning. Checking the fuses related to the instrument cluster could also be necessary, as a blown fuse could disrupt the signal. A thorough diagnostic is recommended to pinpoint the exact cause.
Most Likly a fuel sender problem
On a 1990 Dodge Dynasty, the oil pressure gauge is typically located on the instrument cluster, which is situated on the dashboard in front of the driver. It may share space with other gauges, such as the speedometer and fuel gauge. If you are looking for the oil pressure sending unit, it can usually be found on the engine block, near the oil filter. Always refer to the vehicle’s service manual for precise locations and specifications.
Check the serpentine belt or Thermostat stuck.
The float that tells your gauge how much gas you have may be stuck or there is a problem with the system that sends that information to the gauge.
Looking from the rear of the gauge apply +12v to right terminal and ground to left terminal. If functional the gauge will go to full. Reverse wires and the gauge should go to the left below empty. If it does these two things the gauge is working and the problem is wiring or sending unit. Randy Nix
this is a problem with the gauge cluster. very common problem. you may also notice the neeedles moving very erratic at times. it is a common problem with s10/jimmy/blazers/sonoma
More often than not, a fuel gauge problem is usually a faulty fuel gauge sending unit in the fuel tank.
