In chess, a player can have a maximum of two knights at the beginning of the game, as each side starts with two knights positioned on the b1, g1 for White and b8, g8 for Black. However, if a knight is promoted from a pawn, a player can theoretically have more than two knights. The maximum number of knights a player can have in total is up to nine, assuming all pawns are promoted to knights.

If the speed of sound near the ground is less than the speed of sound higher then in this special case the temperature at the ground must be less than the temperature higher up. Usually the temperature at the ground is warmer than the temperature high up in the sky. The speed of sound changes mainly with the temperature.
The knight-piece symbolizes a mounted troop (such as calvary men or knights). It is capable of jumping pieces much like a horse could vault obstacles. Mounted soldiers could obviously travel greater distance then foot soldiers (pawns) hence the Knights movement of two up, however a mounted troop can't strike directly in front of themselves because the horses head is blocking them. So a horsemen would ride up slightly to the side of his target and strike them as they passed to the side hence the one over movement.
A note at the bottom of the staff does not have a higher than a note at the top of the staff. As notes go up the staff, they are higher.
