Dorothy Rose Blumberg was an author. She received her Master's Degree from Columbia University. She also became a member of Phi Beta Kappa during her university years. As a student, and afterwards, Blumberg particularly was interested in the origins of words and phrases within languages. She shared her knowledge, and her considerable writing talents, through publication in 1969 of the highly regarded 'Whose What? A reference book for all the strange expressions that have entered the American language'.
