The rotor should also be pointing to the front driver's side of the block. this is #1 cylinder. The wire position on the distributor cap is also#1 and the firing order is 1,8,4,36,5,7,2 clockwise looking down at the top of the distributor. If you're not sure, go to the local parts store & look up in a Haynes manual. The local Public Library also might have the manual.
