try replacing the fuel pump

NO it has nothing to do with the engine dieing. You have other problems.
A 1991 Chevy Van has a 4 speed automatic transmission. The engine on the 1991 Chevy Van is a 4.3 L V6 and a 6.2 L Diesel engine is also available as an option.
When troubleshooting problems within an engine, it can help to know the firing order. The firing order of a 1991 Chevy Lumina 3.1L is 1-2-3-4-5-6.
yes you can
yes
Not Enough
Emissions problems. Check to see if the EGR valve is working correctly, the IAC valve, coolant temp sensor (the one beside the thermostat), and the MAP sensor. These sensors are used by the PCM to run your engine. Fuel overload has been a prob with mine...time to check the PCM next.
its a wrap get an new engine
On the front left of the engine.
We need to know which engine it has.
Fuel going into the air cleaner could be a stuck float or improper timing, or internal engine problems. If the engine is also backfiring then the timing is probably off.
