First check the dimmer by turning the headlight switch knob. If that doesn't work, next you may need to replace the fuse or the bulbs that light the instruments. You will need to remove the instrument cluster to access the bulbs. If that doesn't work your instrument cluster may need to be replaced. Neons have a common problem with weak solder points on the circuit board for the instrument cluster. To access the instrument cluster, pop off the top of the whole dash with a trim stick or plastic putty knife. It is also possible for a wire in the harness behind the dash to be broken or cut, but this is unlikely unless someone has been working back there.

We had the same problem with our 1999 and it turned out it is actually behind the ashtray in the dash. Hope this helps, Christine
