In foreign countries, you will often see fuel economy expressed in liters per 100 kilometers. This is the number of liters of fuel will be needed to drive 100 kilometers.

It is used instead of MPG.

By the way, 1 mile = roughly 1.6 kilometers.

1 gallon - roughly 3.8 liters.
