No, the brake shoes on each side of a vehicle are typically not the same. While they may have similar dimensions, they are often designed differently to account for the specific braking requirements of each side, such as the orientation of the shoe and the way they engage with the brake drum. It's important to use the correct part for each side to ensure optimal braking performance and safety.
FRONT SIDE
the brake and clutch are both contained in the same reservoir and use the same fluid, look at the side of the brake master cylinder reservoir there is a fill line on the side of the clear reservoir
Lift the vehicle on a car jack, remove the tire and put to the side, remove the brake shoe/caliper, and remove and throw away the old brake pad. Put in a new brake pad, replace the brake shoe/caliper, replace the tire, and lower the vehicle to the ground.
Sounds like you may have a frozen brake caliper--good idea to change both at the same time
Lift the vehicle on a jack, remove the tire and set to the side, remove the brake shoe/caliper, and remove the old brake pad. Throw away the old pads, put in a new brake pad, replace the brake shoe/caliper, replace the tire, and lower the vehicle to the ground.
Same as the brake they are both run off the same container in the top right hand side of the dash. Mine is a '99 model and most I have seen are the same.
your car wiring is screwed up get someone to check on the brake wiring.
get A buddy.double check!Hello, Jamison here, I do not want to discourage you, but this is A fairly difficult job for someone who has not done it before, It is VERY important to get back EXACTLY as it was removed, It can be put together wrong and appear to be correct to an unexperienced person, when you drive it can come apart and pop out the pistons in the wheel cylinder, This will cause fluid loss and eventually brake failure, This will not take long either, just about 2 to 8 times on the pedal,,,,,,,,,,,, Now, If you are still interested in doing this yourself,Jack up both sides, SUPPORT car very well, take off both Hubs,Study them very well, PAY CLOSE ATTENTION to which parts are on the front side of the axle, and the back side as well, You will not know what these parts are but you can figure it out by looking at it, these parts can be either front/rear of axle, and the same from side to side, or different, LOOK TO SEE IF THEY ARE THE SAME OR DIFFERENT, left side right side, DO NOT,,,,,,,,,DO NOT,,,,,,,,, DO NOT! do not take both sides apart at the same time, you will want the opposite side as A reffrence, That's also why you need to know if it is set up as, YOUR LEFT-YOUR LEFT,,,,,,,,or,,,,,,,,FRONT OF AXLE-FRONT OF AXLE, The parts you are looking for are, automatic adjuster, emergency brake actuator, long springs, short springs,LONG SHOE, SHORT SHOE,,,,,,,A lot of times the shoe metal is the SAME, but the amount of brake material is different. If you have A digital camera, take several pictures of the side you are working on from several angles., GOOD LUCK,,,,,BE SAFE,,,,,,Jamison.
No they are not the same from side to side. They come in left and right side versions.
The side of a shoe is called a vamp
If it only happens when cornering the I would say that its a driveshaft - otherwise, more information is required I had the exact same problem. It turned out that on the inside of the left front wheel, the brake shoe pin on the bottom was locked. This made the brake shoe dig into the router. When the brakes were applied, the sound would subside because the brake shoe flattened out and went into a normal position. The answer is you need new brakes and routers.
the smaller of the brake shoes goes to the front side. remember to lube and screw the brake adjuster together before reassembling.
