No it can not. It must have a computer of some kind to tell it when to shift up and down. I'm sure someone out there sells an aftermarket hot rod kit to make the trans. work.
The transmission is a 4L60E.
If it is a 1/2 ton then it will have the 4L60E transmission in it. The 3/4 tons used the 4L80E in them.
That year transmission did not HAVE a modulator valve. That year used a 4L60E / And the E stands for electronic transmission. NO valve. It is all computer controled.
4l60e
The transmission is a 4L60E 4x4 version
your transmission may only be two types a six speed or a 4l60e
Remember this. 2 and 4 wheel drive transmissions are different and will not interchange. Now back to your question. The only transmission that will work in that year is a 1996 or 1997 4L60E because it is a 1/2 ton and the wireing harness and computer is set up for the 4L60E ONLY. The 3/4 tons used the 4L80E in them ONLY.
No, its the 4L60E I believe they used the 700R4 in it.
The ONLY transmission that will work in that year is the 4L60E. Due to the computor system and transmission wiring harness. All the 1/2 ton trucks used the 4L60E transmission and the 3/4 tons used the 4L80E transmissions in them.
1/2 tons used the 4L60E transmission. 3/4 tons and up used the 4L80E in them.
1/2 tons used the 4L60E transmission. 3/4 Tons used the 4L80E transmission.
