CRANKSHAFT? Very unlikely. The crankshaft is an integral part of, and contained entirely within, the engine. The engine would have to have been virtually destroyed in order to damage it.

However - If you mean to ask about the DRIVESHAFT - the rotating shaft under the vehicle that transfers power from the transmission to the rear wheels - yes it is entirely possible that a driveshaft or its component parts could be damaged in a severe accident.
