Yes, an ECM (Electronic Control Module) can be checked out or diagnosed using specialized diagnostic tools. Technicians typically connect a scanner to the vehicle's OBD-II port to read error codes, monitor live data, and perform tests to assess the ECM's performance. If issues are identified, further testing or replacement may be necessary. Always consult a professional for accurate diagnosis and repair.
I checked with my local Honda dealership and they quoted me around $1,350. Ouch.
Have the Ecm checked At dealers ( recall )
If at all possible have the ECM checked out or replace. Have had this issue with the Grenadas and Cougars. Each one turned out to be the ECM.
only two things left in the system are the ecm and the wiring... check for power on all circuits before replacing the ecm...
You need to have the ECM (engine computer), not the PCM, checked for trouble codes. You will then know what to diagnose.
replace the ecm
where is the ECM located on my 2000 Jimmy? where is the ECM located on my 2000 Jimmy?
Computer (ECM) does a self test of components and has found a part that is out of the specified range and turns on the check engine light so that you get it checked out so that the problem doesn't get worse.
ecm stands for electronic control module
you can't fix an ecm, you have to replace it.
There are no ECM hoses. The ECM is the Electronic Control Module.
More than likely, the problem is in the voltage regulator(internal of the alternator).Could also be in the ECM(Engine Control Module). have the ECM checked for "trouble codes".
