yes they can, by force (grab it from you) or administratively by law.

No doubt, a minor's parents are paying for insurance. They can take you off the policy, and thus cancel your ability and right to drive. Thee are many reasons a parent may do so:

1. They can't afford to have a high risk driver on the policy.

2. Extreme disobedience to authority, and they just don't feel like indulging a jerk.

3. (Most common). They smelled alcohol on you after/before you used the car. They have a moral duty to cancel your license in this case.

4. The school has determined that you are a "bully" around the other students, and have requested/required that your license be "popped" for you to continue in that school. This is becoming a much more common event since 2009.

All they need do is send a letter to the driver's license folks telling them that they are your parents and that you will no longer be insured to drive. They don't have to give a reason. They are your parents and you are a minor. It is that simple.

Unless you are emancipated, or they have no custody over you, they can do whatever they want (within reason).

They can take your driver's license way up until you're 18. Chances are though, instead of taking your license, they will take your car instead if it is in their name and they are just letting you drive.

So, if you would like to keep your license, perhaps you should follow all traffic laws, all parental rules, and all other laws while you are out. When you are at home, then you should follow all house rules and at school, follow all school rules.

Driving is a privilege, not a right. Even the cops will come take your license away if you break too many traffic laws, when you are long gone from the dependency of your parents.

So it's best to behave and stay out of trouble if you want to keep your license.

Can a parent revoke a child's drivers license?

no parent is allwo to revoke a child licence------------No, parental permission is not required for a child to obtain and keep their license. However, a minor cannot drive (or go anywhere) without parental permission.Added: The second answer is only partially correct. Your parent(s) cannot have the DMV revoke your driving privilege, HOWEVER - if you are still not legally an adult, or are not emancipated, they can take your drivers license from you and hold onto it to control your use of it. That is their right as your parent.
