Insurance companies do not use CarFax reports. They have their own system called CLUE that provides a record of prior insurance and lists any and all claims. The CLUE report shows the information on each claim including the amount paid on the claim. Be honest with the agent and they can give you the best rate based on your driving record and claims experience. They also have a system that shows all people in the household (listed on prior policies, gets mail at your address, and people that had insurance at your address in the past). If you already have auto insurance on another vehicle, most insurance companies will cover you up to a month while you work on insuring the new vehicle. On the other hand, if you do not already have auto insurance, you had best not be driving the new vehicle until you get insurance. If auto insurance companies find that you've been driving without insurance they will raise your rates when you DO get around to it, and they'll put you into a high-risk group.
Can an insurance company confiscate your car without your consent?
No they cannot... Unless... the vehicle was totalled in an accident and they have paid you for the actual cash value. They'll still require you sign certain documents releasing the vehicle to them for salvage value. Or... is your insurance company also your leinholder? Many insurance companies are now in the lending business. If that's the case, and you didn't make the payments then, of course, they can reposess the vehicle - it's legally theirs anyway until the loan is paid-off.

If the teenager is added to the parents' insurance, then consent is automatic as it is the parents who make the arrangement. As to whether a teenager can buy his or her own policy without parental consent, that may vary from company to company and state to state. Is is best to check with an independent insurance agent who is authorized to speak for several different companies, and will know any applicable state regulations.

You will need non-owners insurance. Most companies offer this. This is for people without regular access to a vehicle.

Of course. If you don't meet the obligations of your finance contract they have the right to reposess the vehicle. Your main obligations are to pay the payments as agreed and keep insurance on the vehicle as agreed. Read your finance agreement. I have seen many occasions when companies have to repo a vehicle because the customer won't keep the insurance on it.

Depends on the state and also the insurance company. Most companies will cover any vehicle that you operate to an extent, however, in the majority of states, you can't register a vehicle (put license plates on it) without having liability insurance on that vehicle. Check your state laws.
