Too much refrigerant can do it, yes. System pressures get extremely high on both sides of the AC system when it is overcharged.
not enough freon or too much
Excessive freon may cause the compressor to"slug" (Seize)
depemds on the car as how much freon it will hold. some cars have a tag saying how much freon the car is filled with. Too much freon is just as bad as not enough freon.
Not evacuated totally or properly prior to charging? Not charged properly - too much freon Oil not added when charged? Defective compressors?
You should not put any oil in a Ford air conditioning compressor. The air conditioning compressor runs on Freon. The system should take about one pound of Freon.
Yes it would and it would cause the a/c not to cool and even worse it can cause damage to the a/c unit as well.........
you need 8.00 oz. of oil and 2.25 lbs of freon
As much as went in. Not trying to be a smarta**, but there is no info on unit size or lineset length which are the 2 most determining factors of unit charge amount.
29 dollars for refill
$100
I just had 2 pounds of Freon added to my central A/C and was charged $30 a pound.
It will work until it over heats and goes off on thermal protection. After this happens enough times the plastic sheathing on the compressor windings will probably melt and create a short. As for the rest of the system, depending on how much refrigerant you have lost, probably won't have very much cooling going on.
