Bad idea. Most cars that are Premium Only are designed to take about 92 octane fuel at the lowest. The car will, in fact, run with super unleaded gas but it will create damage to your engine in the long-run. And if low octane gas is used frequently, it can greatly reduce the life of your car.
Premium unleaded. It says this on the gas tank cap.
Unless your owners manual says that you must use super unleaded gas, you should just use regular unleaded. Otherwise you are just wasting your money and possibly harming your engine. super unleaded petrol has a higher octain rate than unleaded. check your owners manual for the optimal rate you should be using for the engine.
I have one of these mowers, and the owner's manual says "Regular or Premium gasoline, preferably unleaded".
I use 95 octane unleaded gas. The manual says go for unleaded only.
My 2003 3.0 Litre eclipse spyder owners manual says to use premium with a minimum octane rating of 91,but you may use regular unleaded with a minimum octane rating of 87 if premium is not available.I've only used premium in mine and am very happy with results so far.
I have the same car and I recently discovered Premium Unleaded gas is what I am supposed to use. It says it on the inside of the flap where you put the gas in.
yes The car can "burn" most anything combustible. It is designed and engineered to use Premium....as it says all over the place on it. It will not perform properly without it.
Use exactly what the owner's manual states. If you do not have one, you can obtain one from your dealer or a salvage yard. This is word for word what it says in my manual: Fuel selection: Use only UNLEADED fuel, Research Octane No 91 (Octane Rating 87) or higher. For improved vehicle performance, the use of Premium unleaded gasoline with a Research Octance No of 96 (Octane Rating 91) or higher is recommended.
I have a land rover freelander and I filled my tank with regular 85 octain, manufactor says only to use 87 octain and above. I called the dealer ship to explore my options as far as solve to my mistake and was told there was not a problem with using 85 octain, I hope this is of some help...
maybe it's just for those who don't know
87 Octane should be used under all circumstances. Anything higher is not necessary, unles the owners manual says premium fuel required.
Try regular if it doesn't "ping" excessively you should be OKAnswerTry regular if it doesn't "ping" excessively you should be OKANSWER: Only if you like walking. It will ping and bang, and if you continiously use regular unleaded gas, Its going to blow your engine up! When it says to use premium gas in a Land Rover, you should take it exactly for what it says. AND NO YOU CAN NOT USE REGULAR GAS AND ADD OCTANE BOOSTER TO IT!! It causes excessive engine stress and will cause nothing but problems. The land rover engine is designed to run on a higher combustion ratio than most vehicles and using regular unleaded will not allow the air to fuel ratio to be sustained.
