Yes, they still do the FREE computer check.
I just called in CA and the answer was "Not in California"
A lot of parts stores, such as Advance or Autozone, will check the codes for free. It is still up to you to diagnose the actual problem.
depends on what codes its throwing... take it to a pep boys, autozone, etc and have them run the codes they can do it for free and tell you whats wrong
To reset the check engine light unplug the battery for 30 minutes. If the issues still persists the light will still light up when reattached.
Take it to Autozone and have it read the codes if it is OBD2 (1996 and newer) if not to see if the check engine light is related to the speedometer problem disconnect the negative battery cable and hold the brake down for about a minute. This should turn the check engine light off. If it does drive it to see if the speedometer works. If it does they are related somehow, if it still doesn't then it must be two separate problems.
VTEC may or may not work when the check engine light is on. It depends on why the check engine light is one. If it is on because of a problem with the VTEC system, then, no, it will not work properly.
Go to Auto Zone and they will check you engine light for FREE... And go from there...
Yeah, it can. If something is wrong with your emmision control system, your car can still fail emmisons, but the check engine light doesn't have to be on.
Reset the fuse, and if the light still comes on take it to autozone they will run a free diagnostics check
i have a 2007 carolla that has been fully services and the check engine light is still on. there is nothing wrong with it.. How do I get it off?
If the check engine light is still on there is still a problem. When you fix the problem the light will go out by its self and the fault code will stay in the ecm as a stored code until it's reset.
Yes. The code should still be there.
there are two things to do first you can reset the computer by disconnecting the battery for about 1/2 hour then if your light still comes on after that just go to an autozone and they will check the light out for you for free and let you know what needs to be fixed and what code you have.
