on my 1971 ford 302 motor the coil sits right on the intake and held down by a clamp made just for the coil. if your distributer is located directy in front of the motor, the coil should lay about 3 inches back and to the left of the distributer and will be mounted directly under the air filter.

There have been lots of Ford V8 engines, not just one. I'll name off a few. 302 V8, 351 Windsor V8, 5.4L Triton V8, 5.0L V8, 4.6L SOHC V8, 5.4L Supercharged Shelby GT500 V8. Yeah, the list keeps going. So there are Ford V8 engines in production today. Particularly the 4.6L V8, 5.4L V8, 5.0L V8, 5.4L Supercharged V8, 6.2L V8, 6.7L Powerstroke Diesel V8, etc, etc, etc.....
