Take it to a dealer to fix it. They wont fix it. They will tell you it needs an engine. Rover can not produce an engine for it. Rover will buy the car back. They are garbage rover wants them off the road. Even if you sucessfully reset the timing without the special tools the end of tne camshafts will eventually break off at the sprocket. rover techs are scared to work on those. I know I am one. Wont touch them
if the freelander is 2000 or older it will not have one, ie, if it has the distributer on the end of the head. 2001 on it is mounted on the side oof the head at the cam level.
timing belt.
Tumblr does say more followers than you cam count on your followers list because it takes time to update.
I was looking at the Gates website ( they make timing belts etcetera ) and it shows for the 2.5 liter V6 engine in a 2003 Land Rover Freelander : Cam belt , front Cam belt , rear , 2 required ( so I'm confused , either it takes 2 timing belts or 3 timing belts )
On some engines the cam-shaft does not directly operate the valves, but uses a lever (the Cam Follower) to transmit the force from the cam to the valve. Basically they are levers, and they are used to open the valves.
It does not have a cam belt it has a cam chain that requires no replacement.
Cam followers can be purchased from Global Industrial, Bearings Canada, and Emerson Industrial Automation. A cam follower is a special bearing that is used to follow cams.
Your cam bearings should be numbered in a particular order
no valve adjustment. hydraulic lifters (cam followers).
a sharp pointed cam, thats used in racing cars
The cost to change a cam belt on a Land Rover Freelander typically ranges from $500 to $1,200, depending on the engine type and labor rates in your area. It's advisable to include the cost of additional parts, such as tensioners and water pumps, which may also need to be replaced during the service. Always consult a qualified mechanic for an accurate estimate based on your specific vehicle and local pricing.
A 'cam' is a lobe shape on a rotating shaft in machinery. A 'follower' is a part that contacts the cam and goes back and forth relative to the rotation of the lobe. This is a common way of converting rotation to reciprocal action.
