To determine the year of a 6HP Mercury outboard motor with the serial number 34028830C2, you can refer to Mercury's serial number lookup charts or contact a Mercury dealer. Typically, the first two digits of the serial number indicate the year of manufacture. In this case, the number suggests it was likely produced in the early 2000s, but for precise identification, checking with official resources is recommended.
The correct compression ratio for a 1992 6hp Evinrude outboard motor is typically around 6:1. However, it's important to verify this with the specific model's manual, as variations can exist based on production changes or modifications. The gas to oil ratio for a 6hp Yamaha outboard motor typically ranges from 50:1 to 100:1, depending on the specific model and year. It's essential to consult the owner's manual for your particular motor to determine the recommended ratio, as using the correct mixture helps ensure optimal performance and longevity of the engine. Always use high-quality two-stroke oil designed for marine use.
although the sticker on it says 100:1, mix a 50:1 ratio. In 1986 & 1987, for some reason Johnson went to a 100:1 recommendation. I actually like a 64:1 ratio in my pre mix 2 stroke outboards. That's 2oz of oil per gallon of gas.
