Your problem is with the indoor blower. The compressor may be damaged if it is run wothout the indoor fan. If the fan runs and still no air comes out, the coil may be iced up. In that case turn off the outdoor unit and let the fan run until the ice is gone then you can safely re start the ac. If it is ice you may need to call someonr to determine why it is freezing up. Any one of several things can cause this to happen, but it is usually an easy fix.
Yes your compressor comes when you set your thermostat to "Fan" setting and you have it on cool setting.
It could be a low charge, but start by cleaning your filter and see if that helps. If the compressor isn't coming on, it could be burned up.
Air compressor for what purpose?
The compressors that come with central Ac systems are hermetically sealed and have oil inside. There is no need to add oil. If you are replacing the compressor then flush the line set first then replace, also install a filter drier.
The compressor switch on a home air conditioner is typically located on the outdoor unit, often near the electrical service panel. It may be a small disconnect box that allows you to turn the compressor on or off for maintenance or safety purposes. Additionally, some systems have a switch inside the home, usually near the thermostat or in a utility room. Always refer to the user manual for your specific model for exact locations and safety instructions.
