To replace the brake booster on a 1976 Corvette, first, disconnect the negative battery terminal and remove the master cylinder by unbolting it from the brake booster. Next, detach the vacuum line and any electrical connections from the booster. Remove the mounting bolts securing the booster to the firewall, then carefully pull it out. Install the new brake booster by reversing the steps, ensuring all connections are secure and bleeding the brake system afterward.
The brake pedal becomes hard to push in order to stop the vehicle and when the brake is applied you may also hear a vacuum leak and the engine rpm at idle changes.
It is the same thing as the power steering pump - front of engine, left (driver's) side, driven by a single belt. It provides hydraulic pressure for the power steering, and for the power brake booster. Some Eldorados have had the hydraulic booster changed out and replaced with a vacuum booster; this is not factory setup.
On a 1976 Trans Am with a 400 engine, vacuum lines typically connect to various components such as the intake manifold, carburetor, and emissions controls. The main vacuum source is usually from the intake manifold, which supplies vacuum to the brake booster, HVAC controls, and any vacuum-operated accessories. Additionally, there may be lines leading to the distributor for advance timing. It's essential to refer to a service manual for specific routing details, as configurations may vary based on options and emissions systems.
reach under dash and remove the pin that pushes on rod then unbolt master cylinder and unbolt all 6 bolts on booster somefrom in front of fire wall some behind that you can getfrom under dash

biasing check valves can reduce pressure during pedal-induced rear caliper bleeds. vacuum bleeding gives much better results.
DOT ( 3 ) brake fluid
Brake fluid reservoir is located on the firewall next to the steering column. Remove cover top of master cylinder to add brake fluid.
I ordered a Haynes manual, however it doesn't show one for my 1978 Luv. Although I'm also looking for the same thing, I figured a heads up would help.
