Anywhere from 15-20 degrees F below ambient (return) temperature. Take a temperature reading at a cold air register and at the air return. Registers farther away from the blower will be slightly warmer than those closer.

So, if it's 85 degrees in your house when you get home, and you fire up the AC, don't expect air any colder than about 70 right away. As the AC pulls the air temp in the house down, the air from the registers should become cooler.

Also, don't expect a central AC unit to cool a house much below 20 degrees cooler than the outside temperature. If it's 100 degrees outside, 80 degrees inside is about the best you can expect from a central AC.

How can I safely vent a dryer in my home?

To safely vent a dryer in your home, make sure to use a rigid metal duct or flexible metal duct with a smooth interior. Avoid using plastic ducts, as they can be a fire hazard. The vent should be as short and straight as possible, with minimal bends. Make sure the vent exhausts to the outside of your home, not into an attic or crawl space. Regularly clean the vent to prevent lint buildup, which can also be a fire hazard.
