To replace the cabin air filter in a BMW 328i, first, locate the cabin filter access panel, usually found behind the glove compartment. Replace cabin air filter BMW 318i 1995
In the 1996 BMW 328i convertible, the cabin air filter is located behind the glove compartment. To access it, you need to remove the glove compartment by unscrewing the screws and detaching it from its hinges. Once the glove compartment is out of the way, you can find the filter housing, which can be opened to replace the cabin filter.
There is no cabin air filter in a Z3.

on my 328i I had that problem, and found that the tube that held the oil dipstick was sucking air at it's base where it meets the engine.
The BMW 740IL has a cabin air filter which helps to filter air. This is located inside of the cabin vents.
It is located on the drivers side of the vehicle in the duct that flows air to your tires
