First, you need to find an exhaust gas analyzer and find out what the mixture is when you're running down the road. If you're running rich (too much hydrocarbon in the exhaust) try putting a smaller set of jets in. Be careful, it's easy to go too far and if you do that you'll burn valves and possibly a piston.
Repeat the process until you get a good mixture, then adjust the idle mix.
in my opinion fuel injection is better because it increases your horsepower and gas mileage in most cases
Yes, it can be done, but why in the world would you want to replace a system that is more efficient, will yield better mileage, quicker starts, better performance, with a carburetor? Fuel Injection is superior to a carburetor in every way.
If there's no noticeable stumble or hesitation, it's usually not the carb. A good free-flowing exhaust system helps, as well as a cam designed to maximize economy. Also, if you drive like there is an egg under your right foot, you'll get better mileage.
You can optimize your vehicle's performance and achieve better gas mileage by using a performance chip. These chips can adjust the engine's settings to improve fuel efficiency and overall performance.
If the engine runs well after it's warmed up, you just need to adjust the choke to make the engine start and run better when it's cold.
New cars can adjust and get better gas mileage, older car 2002/older, you are just wasting money.
for any car to get better gas mileage get a better flowing intake and/or exhaust or get it tuned
Probably the best way to get better fuel mileage would be to get a tuner for it.
Lower ratio gets better mileage; 430 is better.
You Can still buy that Carb new or used, unless you may want to go with a new or better one and i would say a Holley 600Cfm or 650Cfm gas mileage might go down a little.. and you don't need to Replace your intake they sell Adapter plates for the conversion And Also you can get an Adapter plate and Use Edelbrock 600-650Cfm Carb theres a link for it below but you can but it from your local autoparts store like AutoZone or Advance auto parts or a speed shop sells them but i wouldn't go there they always mark up more then anyone else.. Edelbrock 600CFM http://www.jegs.com/i/Edelbrock/350/1400/10002/-1 Or if u wanna spend the money you can go high tech and buy Holleys Aftermarket TPI injection system Stock GM 2 barrel or holley TBI 4 barrel and probaly increase your gas mileage parts store should be able to order that also...
You may need to adjust the carburetor. It sounds like it's running too rich.
This was answered on an episode of Mythbusters, you get better gas mileage with the AC on.
