At the base of the distributor there is a bolt. Loosen this a bit and you will be able to rotate the distributor both clockwise and counterclockwise. This will adjust your timing.

Prior to doing this, make sure you have a timing light and the balancer marked with white chalk. Adjust accordingly.

One last note. If your vehicle is running kind of crappy. I recently had an issue on my Trooper where the distributor rotor retaining screw backed out and totaly blew my timing till I fixed it.

Check the condition of the cap and rotor when your doing this.
