With #1 piston at top dead center ( TDC ) on compression stroke. All the way to the top of cylinder. The cam and crank gear dots line stright up over top of each other.
Crank gear is at 12 oclock The cam gear is at 6oclock That is the dots.
To set the timing on a 1978 Case 580 Construction King backhoe, first, ensure the engine is at top dead center (TDC) on the compression stroke for the number one cylinder. Next, remove the timing cover to access the timing marks on the crankshaft and camshaft gears. Align the timing marks according to the manufacturer's specifications and adjust the distributor to ensure the ignition timing is set correctly. Finally, reassemble any components removed and start the engine to verify proper timing.
Just set timing for 4 deg BTDC on my 69 runs great.
You have 2 notches on the timing gears one on the camshaft gear and one on the crankshaft gear. Align them so that the (top) camshaft gear is pointing straight down, and at the same time align the (bottom) crankshaft gear so that it is pointing straight up. The two marks should be perfectly aligned with each other. I almost forgot, make sure your # 1 piston is at "top dead center" before doing this.
stock timing on a 400 small block Chevy 2/4 bbl engine is 4 degrees btdc. depending on how the engine is built however, i.e. rebuilt to stock or built for performance, the timing may be up to 8 degrees plus or minus tdc or more depending on valve timing and cam timing.
What is the timing for 1978 dj50
8-degrees BTDC. Before top dead center. Stright out of the book.
timing advanced, 180 out, Chevy requires delayed vacuum for advance, did you change the vacuum supply location? firing order 18436572 clockwise on distributer, turning distributer counterclock wise advances timing,
Yes, There the same.
YES it will.
Yes it will.
