I believe they are talking about a light on the dash that is
flashing when you first get in the vehicle. It has a cover with an opening, inside there are two metal posts . There is a small device you keep on your key-ring, that also has 2 small metal posts. In order to start the vehicle you must stick the device on your key-ring into the slot, making contact between the metal posts stops the flashing light, then, and only then with your ignition key start the vehicle. I have one on my 2004 Saturn Vue. I despise it. It is a royal pain in the you know what. I'd love to disable mine also.

It varies from vehicle to vehicle.
That is your security.
Never seen a vehicle with a fuel filter light on the dash. Not to say there isn't one, but I have never seen one myself nor have I heard of a vehicle with such a light.
If you have the Lorado model you need to disable the alarm system. You can do this by using the lock in the rear of the vehicle. Insert the key and then lock and then unlock the vehicle and then the system should be disarmed. Good luck.
Under the dash on the driver side of the vehicle there are some black boxes. Look in your manuel and it will be there

Possibly a security system activation light.
That light indicates the security system is working properly.
The engine light on a Chevy Colorado can be rest by connecting an OBD II reader to the interface port under the dash. Each code can then be reset which will disable the dash light until the error is detected again.
