To start off go through your house and find everything you don't want anymore and sell it. Make sure you place a buy-it-now price 10% under the retail price and start it at a penny. The reason you do these things is that people will be willing to buy something that is less than the retail price even if the shipping makes it cost more and making it a penny makes eBay only charge you a penny... otherwise you could spend 1.50 on each thing (this doesn't make a difference to advanced settings like gift or bold).

After you do that and you want to make a career or part time job off of eBay you need to find a place that sells things for wholesale like lightinthebox.com or dhgate.com. Find something that you are really in to like jewelry or Video Games. Stick to that product type. Put the buy it now price as 5% more than you bought it for which will be about 10% less than wholesale price but usually less expensive. try to keep your starting price below 50 cents unless it's REALLY expensive than put whats reasonable like $5 or $10 but stay under $20. Depending on your wholesale place you should buy it first. If your wholesale place doesn't offer direct shipping (as in send it to wherever you want) you should buy it from them before you post it on eBay then send it to them when they buy it but if your wholesale allows you to send it wherever don't buy it until after they buy it and directly send it to them.
