If the display is not on when you turn the ignition on. First you check the fuses. radio memory is usually run with the courtesy light fuse. The main radio fuse is marked radio.
Second you pull the radio out and test the power leads to the radio. If you have no power then there may be a short in a wire.
If there is power on the power leads then the radio must be replaced.
Where is the PCM located on a 2005 Mercury Montego Premier?
It is located to the right and just below the power steering reservoir.
Disco Montego ended in 2005.
If the display is out, but the radio operates otherwise, the radio has failed.
Put in radio station and hit the set button
The neutral safety switch on a 2005 Mercury Montego is typically located on the transmission, near the gear selector. It is usually mounted on the side of the transmission case and is connected to the shift linkage. This switch prevents the engine from starting unless the transmission is in 'Park' or 'Neutral' positions. For precise location and access, consulting the vehicle's repair manual or a professional mechanic is recommended.
The radio display is usually tied to the dash board lights. As you raise or lower the illumination on the dash, the radio lights should change. During the day (with your headlights off), the radio display is at full brightness so it is easier to read in daylight.
i reconnected my battery of mountaineer 2005 and radio is asking for code, i wasnt able to find it any where...how to solve this issue
There is no auxiliary jack for any Montego or 500 for that matter. I was told by the dealer that "it has one somewhere". I bought the car and looked and researched, and found that it does not have one! You can buy a "Trip Tunes" accessory from your Ford dealer (this has no ipod control) or aftermarket. I bought an Axxess ipod interface made by Metra. It has ipod control and it works great for me. They do have an aux. only input interface as well. You retain your radio and steering wheel controls.
i work fro a Chevy dealer and when your display goes bad it means radio replacement time. if your dash light work and not the radio you will need to replace the radio
The radio display on a 2005 Pontiac Vibe may go out due to a blown fuse, a faulty connection, or a malfunctioning radio unit itself. To repair it, first check the fuse related to the radio in the fuse box and replace it if necessary. If the fuse is intact, inspect the wiring connections behind the radio for any loose or damaged wires. If everything appears in good condition, the radio unit may need to be replaced or repaired by a professional.
If you turn up your interior dashboard light settings, then the radio display will be brighter too. The radio dims to the setting for the dashboard when the lights are turned on.
