Depends where it's cracked. This was a common problem with the 6.2 Detroit Diesels that GM used from 1984 - 1993. You'd have to magnaflux the head, find the cracks, drill a hole and tap it, fill it with a bolt, cut off the remainder of the bolt, then smooth it all down. Not someone you really want to "learn as you go" on your own vehicle.
If your referring to the engine block, the motor has to be replaced. If your refering to a cracked head, the head has to be replaced. Contact a service technician you can trust. a cracked block cannot be repaired. The only option is to replace the engine.
You can't fix a cracked head unless you can weld. it must be replaced with a new head.
A machine shop may be able to repair the head but my advice is to replace a cracked head.
cracked head, cracked block Bring it in asap. Id be willing to bet you have a cracked head. If you keep driving like that you'll screw up your engine. Coolant isn't made to lubricate an engine, and your pistons and other items in your engine will pay for your driving it like that. Im surprised your car doesnt overheat. No oil additive is going to fix your cracked head, it needs to be replaced.
Blown head gasket, or cracked head. Do not drive as serious engine damage will occur. Head must be removed, and repaired.
If all that is wrong is a blown head gasket and even a cracked head it is much easier and cheaper to just fix it than to replace the engine. The labor to replace the engine plus the cost of the engine would be far greater than fixing the one you now have. This is assuming the engine is not worn out already.
A cracked "engine housing" probably means a cracked block. Very not good. A new engine will most likely be required to fix the problem, as a cracked block is next to impossible to repair.
Sounds like a bad head gasket or cracked head problem but we really need to know the year, make, model and engine to help you.
You replace the engine.
At the minimum the head will need replaced.
More than likely you have a blown head gasket or cracked head. Stop driving the car until you get this repaired, or you will have serious engine damage.More than likely you have a blown head gasket or cracked head. it all depends on type, age, the amount of damage, and what kind of damage to the engine. just find a specialist and they can help you out.
