Check your coolant overflow reservoir, if it is to the marked line you should take it to a certified mechanic as the problem maybe a faulty sensor. If the reservoir is empty than fill to the line marked then remove negative terminal from battery and turn on head lights for 15 minutes. Reattach negative terminal and test drive. If CHECK ENGINE light comes back take your vehicle to a certified mechanic.
