Code 42 points to the following problems in a 1998 Neon. It could be one or more of these issues. P1282 - Fuel Pump Relay Control Circuit
P1388 - ASD Relay Control Circuit
P1389 - No ASD Relay Output Voltage At PCM
P0460 - Fuel Level Sending Unit & Circuit, No Change Over Miles
P0462 - Fuel Level Sending Unit Voltage Out Of Limits, Too Low
P0463 - Fuel Level Sending Unit Voltage Out Of Limits, Too High You will need to have the car scanned for DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) by a shop or parts store with an OBDII reader to determine which problem is causing the car to give error code 42.
Trouble code P0403 means:Exhaust gas recirculation circuit malfunction
The Downstream O2 sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced.
A 1998 Dodge Neon uses green antifreeze.
Trouble code P1388 means:Auto shut down ASD relay control circuit
Trouble code P0572 means: Brake Switch A Circuit Low
